Cahill Spoke To Kenwright

10.05pm. Tim Cahill has revealed that he spoke to Bill Kenwright and David Moyes before he announced he'd join Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.

Tim said: "I've been on the phone to David Moyes, I spoke with Thierry Henry and also the chairman Bill Kenright at Everton and (Socceroos coach) Ange (Postecoglou) this morning.

"I've made the decision purely because I've played in the Premier League and did really well and it was a massive compliment to get the phone calls I did last night and to speak to Moyes about possibly going to La Liga.

"I've done the Premier League, I've done America. New York was amazing for me.. China is a growing market in football."

Would you like Tim Cahill back at Everton?

Tim Cahill has been released from his contract with MLS side New York Red Bulls.

The 35 year old is a free agent, so there is no rush to sign for a club before the 11.00pm deadline.

Reports say China is the likely destination for the former Everton favourite.

As many have commented, great as an impact sub these days , but 90 mins in the Prem is sadly just beyond him now. Same in the Asian Cup, he was used very wisely at the right times, but as a starter was often substituted purely due to has battery running dry. I am sure he will get a great response whenever he returns to Everton as a spectator, as an Everton legend deserves that much.

end of season deal to fire up the side and a few goals along the way. Never got a proper goodbye to the blue kangaroo

Great at his best, but not now. Too old at 35. His game was high intensity and he just doesn't have enough of that anymore, not at Premier League level anyway.
