On this day in 1957 Everton played their first game at Goodison Park under floodlights.

Four pylons 185 feet each with 36 lamps were installed behind each corner of the pitch, at the time they were tallest in the country.

Everton hosted the redshite in front of 58,771 fans in a friendly. It was only a friendlyas they were in the second division.

Many a great evening was had at 'The Old Lady'
