The Goal That Never Was
The Goal That Never Was

Bryan Hamilton left the Blues for pastures new today back in 1977.

Bryan made 54 appearances for the Blues scoring on five occasions, but he will always be remembered by all Evertonians for one thing back in April 1977.

The Blues were robbed back of a place in the FA Cup Final by one Clive Thomas after Bryan Hamilton scored the 'goal that never was' against the shite

It still rankles Blues of my age group that with the score at 2-2, Hamilton scored a legitimate goal that would have sent the Blues back to Wembley for the second time that season, but Welsh referee Clive Thomas disallowed the goal, and no reason was ever stated why.

Bryan was signed from Ipswich in 1975 and on this day back in 1977 he joined Ipswich Town.

From that day as a 11 year old kid at this match I've never been the same. Generations later it still winds me up... I won't repeat my thoughts -you'll all know my view towards the RS...
