Gary Lineker
Gary Lineker

Gary 'The Links' Lineker joined the Blues today back in 1985.

Links was signed from Leicester City for a fee in the region of £850,000 set by a tribunal.

The Blues at the time were defending League Champions and European winners, but the ban from Europe cost the Blues hard.

Links replaced Andy Gray up front and although he scored 40 magnificent goals, the Blues fell short in the League and FA Cup Final.

After one season and a great World Cup in 1986 for Gary he moved onto Barcelona for silly money.
