More On This Day

On this day in 2001 Franny Jeffers left Everton to become the Arse's 'Fox in the box' in an £8m deal.

The Scouse born striker made his debut as a 16 year old and scored 20 goals in 60 odd games and he seemed to have the world at his feet. He will be remembered for handbags in the derby with Sander Westeveld, but after a fall out over a pay rise with manager Walter Smith he was left out of the team.

It never worked out at Arsenal and he became a bit of a gypsy moving from club to club, including a return to Everton on loan. He played 20 games and scored just 2 goals. Yet again he fell out with the manager. This time David Moyes returned him to London.
