Sandy And Roy
Sandy And Roy

On this day in 1969, Evertonian's witnessed the greatest own goal ever seen and were in mourning.

Forget Tommy Wright, forget Mick Lyons, forget Phil Jagielka and even forget Tiger McLoughlin - this was Sandy Brown!

A diving header into the top corner, at the Park End, which flew past a stranded Gordon West.

To make things worse we were at home, to make things even worse it was against the shite and to make things unbearable we lost 3-0 but we will always remember Sandy's oggy!

Were you there? If not ask yer arl fella how good (or bad) it was!

It was an absolute belter. Remember watching and seeing it standing in the Paddock. I also remember Sandy attempting to play centre forward. He had a kick like a mule and never took any prisoners. He missed his fair share of penalties too.
