What a player! Best penalty taker I've ever seen. Always kept them low and they flew in! I think he only ever missed one.

Sent home 'for discilinary reasons', he'd obviously been drinking!

In the sixties I would go to Goodison to get my heroes` autographs .The boys would go from Goodison to Bellefield round about 9 a.m and return at about 1` O`Clock . I got Alex Young ,Tommy Ring and all of the lads .Roy Vernon always had a cigarette in his mouth but never ever refused to sign for us kids . Sandy Brown was another man who always had time for you .
