And We Love Our Tricky Trev
And We Love Our Tricky Trev

On this day in 1985 Everton went to White Hart Lane to meet Championship challengers Tottenham Hotspur.

This was an eargerly awaited rearranged game which had been postponed due to bad weather earlier in the year.

The Toffeemen won 2-1 with goals from Andy Gray and 'Tricky Trevor' Steven and went on to win the title.

Remember both days well, and the game was an epic.. Times and money have changed us all. It was an epic day and Andy grays volley, Tricky Trevs calm finish, and Big Nevs one of many finest hours saw us home very happy.

Remember sitting on the coach outsie Barnes' on a cold February morning waiting for a 10 o'clock pitch inspection, then going down there for the re-arranged game on a freezing cold Wednesday night. Packed in like sardines standing behind the goal. Seeing Andy Gray score a screamer and watching Tricky Trev round the keeper to get the 2nd. Big Nev making an unbelievable save to deny Falco the equalizer. We won the league that night.......Happy Days

I was right behind the goal when, with minutes to go Spurs had a corner and Graham Roberts (I think - big centre half) headed in to the roof ofthe net and we all gave up. Except for big Nev who made an impossible save and tipped it over the bar COYB!
