Darron Gibson played 70 minutes for the Republic of Ireland last night in the 2-0 win over Oman.
Gibbo did well with his crisp passing game. He had a couple of shots which went wide and got booked for a late challenge.
Aiden McGeady looked sharp when he came on in the second half. He had a few chances, which on another night he would have tooked away.
Martin O'Neil said: "I felt that we would need the game. We had a chance to look at Darron Gibson, obviously Robbie Brady that I hadn't seen play for us anyway. Obviously I haven't seen very much of Darron Gibson at all in the last couple of years.
"I thought that we played some nice football, but sometimes three, four, five, six, seven passes and then the ball going backwards. We had possession of the ball, but you have to make it effective. That's something that we've been striving to do, and I thought the substitutes came on and gave us a bit more impact."
