Moyesy's Best XI ?
Bookmark and Share

Over the last 11 plus years we have seen some top players working under David Moyes playing for Everton.

Yes, there have been some real beauts as well, Per Kroldrup and The Count spring to mind but Moyesy's Worst XI is for another time.

What is his best XI? Here is a starter for.....eleven:

Tim Howard

Phil Neville
Joleon Lescott
Joey Yobo
Leighton Baines

Tim Cahill
Marouane Fellaini
Mikel Arteta
Steven Pienaar

Duncan Ferguson

Subs: Nigel Martyn, Davey Weir, Phil Jagielka, Lee Carsley,Tommy Gravesen & Wayne Rooney.

Agree? Who would you replace and who with?

Let's not be bitter blues fellas. Rooney is the best thing to put on a blue shirt since the 80's - just that he came through the ranks when we were happy to finish mid-table. Would love to have seen him playing for us this season, when we really needed a striker. Also, can't believe you've gone for Joey over Jags, in their position consistency and lack of errors makes all the difference.

How can you put Yobo in ahead of Jags? That is criminal! I would also take our current right side over that. Neville was a great servant for us, but Coleman is so exciting going forward and he has also become a cracking RB as well. Martyn Coleman, Jags, Lescott, Baines Mirallas, Fellaini, Arteta, Pienaar Cahill Rooney

Gotta go with Nigel, Jags and Graveson instead of tim, joey and felli. Still a good side though.

Hey Billy 11# fill yer Boots, i agree thats the best starting eleven for me !. How can any of you leave out "The Gravedigger" ? on his first stint he was sensational, maybe the reason why Real Ale Madrid came calling. A great post, thanks to all at Blue Kipper for this one.

For me, it would have to be: Howard Coleman - Jagielka - Lescott - Baines Fellaini - Arteta Mirallas - Cahill - Pienaar Rooney Slightly skewed towards more recent seasons, but honourable mentions go to Martyn, Neville, Distin, Gravesen and pre-injury Yak.

did this on way home from game on Sunday: Martyn Neville - Yobo - Lescott - Baines Donovan - Arteta - Fellaini - Pienaar Cahill Saha Subs: Howard, Jags, Coleman, Osman, Gibson, Ferguson, Yak although Fernandes is a good shout too

Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Lescott, Baines, Fellaini, Carsley, Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Johnson. Carsley was pivotal in securing a top 4 finish so gets my shout.

Based on the players Moyes had over his eleven years as manager, I would have to agree with the selections of Peter from Childwall, except for one notable exception. I would have to have Rooney up front in place of the Yak. As good as the Yak was for one season, Rooney was exceptional and would have been unstoppable with that midfield behind him.

I agree with Moyes' signings of Martin / Howard, Neville, Jags, etc but Mirallas? Surely not. The guy is a luxury player who never features in a game, does not do enough and then maybe scores a goal which, when seen on match of the day, makes him look a superstar, whereas the reality is Mirallas just doesn't feature in games enough. The guy has talent, but he - as yet - just does not do enough for the team. My 11: Martyn, Neville, Jags, Distin (not Lescott coz he turned his back on us) Baines, Arteta, Cahill, Felli, Pienaar, Gibson (as he looks like a true Rolls Royce player, the way he glides around the pitch... glorious) and... Yak had that 1 great season... but striker has always been our biggest problem; Tommy Gravesen was always fun to watch, Lee Carsley was an unsung warrior... I'll leave it at my Moyes 10 as we never had a consistentlygood enough striker during his time with us.

Thats a very good call Peter, Childwall, I'd replace Martyn for Howard (although thats debatable) and Rooney for the Yak (ok he didn't sign him but he was the first manager to pick him for huis first team). the rest I agree with

How about: Howard,Hibbert,Jagielka,Lescott,Baines,Graveson,Fellaini, Arteta,Pienaar,Cahill and Ferguson. Subs:Martyn,Neville,Coleman,Carsley,Osman and Yakubu

Royston Tasmanian Drenther makes the subs bench IMO! But only after you've locked him up the night before a match! What a waist! And don't forget Cahill!

Jags on the bench? Bluekipper thats worse than your Snouty's transfer predictions

Jagielka's got to be in there and Gravesen ahead of Felli. Martyn in nets as well. Other than that you've done okay.
