Duncan Ferguson Granted A Testimonial Game By Everton

According to some reports Duncan Ferguson will be granted a testimonial before the start of the new season.

This will come as a welcome shock to most Everton fans, as Big Dunc is an Everton legend in their eyes.

In recent season's both Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman have had testimonials in preseason and if true Ferguson will continue that trend.

The club have lined up Villarreal to be the opposition. Everton fans will remember that a great trip to Sunny Spain in August 2005 against Manuel Pellegrini's side was kiboshed by referee Luigi Colina when he disallowed a perfectly good headed goal by Big Dunc and that was the end of Europe for us.

The game at Goodison is said to be played on Sunday, 2nd August. A week before the opening game of the season against Watford.

This is just 24 hours after Everton are due to travel to Leeds United in a friendly. This fixture could end up a game for the fringe players and youngsters so Roberto Martinez will have his first eleven ready for Villarreal.

We await confirmation from Everton.

I cant believe we are giving a testimonial to someone like this. What is the modern criteria, 2 different spells at the club, could hardly be legend status. Regularly injured, regularly suspended, goal scoring record of about 1 in 4, for our centre forward. Bottled a decision when Captain, by not taking a penalty in a shoot out. Potential to have been Blue Legend, but in my opinion, only turned up when the big teams were in town. Hasn't played 10 years, hasnt played 500 games. We are just devaluing the currency of teatimonials

Announce on testimonial day that Big Dunc has also been made manager of EFC.

Dave #2 spot on, shame we can't get the same team for a rematch, good news though always wondered why he never got one.

I hope its a proper old fashioned testamonial. With all duncs mates playing rather than the 1st team. Lets make it a proper enjoyable occasion for dunc and the fans not part of our pre season preparation.

Get Colina as referee so we can tell him what we really thought of that decision. Goodison will be like a bear pit and hopefully continue through out the season and make the 11 (whoever it is) in the Royal Blue shirt feel 10ft tall
