Gueye Barkley and Vellios Play At Oxford
Bookmark and Share

Everton play Oxford United tonight with Alan Stubbs taking a young side to the Kassam stadium.

Maggie Gueye's three goals in three pre-season games doesn't merit his inclusion in the first team squad, unless he's going to hitch a ride back with some of the fans who will be watching both games.

Ross Barkley, Apostolos Vellios, Conor McAleny and keeper Adam Davies are the others who toured the USA, and are included in the squad. Joao Silva is back in the squad, but Jose Baxter is out injured with a dead leg.

Stubbsey said: "I saw Oxford a few times last season, when we had players out on loan and they played Oxford. They played with a physical challenge, but they tried to play and all. So that will suit us. We will be a lot stronger

They've had a couple of good results in pre-season and this will be the best calibre of players that we'll be coming up against. It'll be a challenge for them and a good test for them but we'll have one or two players back in the team which will definitely help.

We'll go there and put a performance in this time, rather than it becoming a game of fitness, I'll be looking on the performance more than anything."

Everton Squad: Davies, Roberts, Browning, Barkley, Gueye, Forshaw, Orenuga, Duffy, Mustafi, Garbutt, Vellios, Silva, McAleny, Nsiala, Bidwell, Hope, Lundstram, Forrester.
