My 1st match was at Goodison Park Everton 4 WBA O. 28th September 1968.

Harry Catterick's Everton took on Alan Ashman's West Brom. 47,792 saw all one way traffic with Bally scoring 3 including a pen. Joe Royle had had a pen saved by John Osborne early in the game, so Bally took the second one. Colin Harvey got the other goal.

I was seven years old and my Dad took me. I had been seeing Tranmere play on Friday nights for a year or two. Often cold and sparsely attended. Then Goodison! Warm day, huge ground, huge crowd, huge noise. Never been anywhere like it. Saw a copper being sworn at as he stopped a little girl being held on her dad's shoulders. And then the game. Four nil. Alan Ball hat trick! All the greats of that era played! Great memories. Hooked for life. COYB. Alex Bourn.

EVERTON: Gordon West, Tommy Wright, Sandy Brown, Howard Kendall, Brian Labone, Colin Harvey, Jimmy Husband, Alan Ball, Joe Royle, John Hurst, Johnny Morrissey.

Baggies: J Osborne, D Fraser, G Williams, T Brown, J Talbut, J Kaye, R Rees, G Lovett, J Astle, B Hope(R Potter), C Clark.

If Bally was playing (which he was cos I was there also) then ANY game has great memories. No wonder you were hooked mate. This was bit of revenge for them jammy gits beating us in the cup final a few months before when Jeff Astle scored the ONLY goal he ever scored with his left foot after we battered them. Only for their gk Big John Osbourne, we would have had 6 !!!!!! arrr memories Hope we get the right man for new manager and that is NOT LENNON or Oneil or Mackay from cardiff COYB ETID
