Alan Stubbs will be delighted with his U21's (Reserves) side winning 1-0 away to Blackburn Rovers played at Leigh Sports Village last night.
Stubbsy has seen his side struggle to get going with three straight defeats and a draw so last night's result will be well received. The Blues are operating with a very small and young squad this season and, while there was as much bad about this as there was good, there were some positives to take away from what was essentially a smash and grab.
The game was won with a goal from Shane Duffy. Matt Kennedy won a free-kick out wide and after Johan Hammar had knocked back Grant's delivery, Duffers was there to power a header home. Taudul starred in between the sticks for Everton as they hung on to secure the win against a strong Rovers side.
EVERTON: Taudul, Browning, Garbutt (3, Touray), Grant, Duffy, Hammar, Kennedy, Kelly, Vellios, Forrester, Green (52, Long). Subs: Springthorpe, Pennington & Johns
