Everton Under-21's (Reserves) earned their first point in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League yesterday at Reading.

Stubbsy's side had lost their first three opening games to West Brom, West Ham and Arsenal so he will be glad of the point but disappointed they didn't take all three.

Everton had gone behind after a poor clearance by Shane Duffy was lashed in by the Reading left back giving keeper Mateusz Taudul no chance. Duffers made amends just before half-time when he headed in a Luke Garbutt corner.

Young Matt Kennedy looked lively on his debut and Apostos Vellios could have won it for the blues with a chance in either half. The game fizzled out to a draw and Stubbsy will be pleased to have ended the losing run.

Next up is Blackburn Rovers away 24th September kick-off 7pm.

EVERTON: Taudul, Browning, Garbutt, Lundstram, Duffy, Hammar, Grant, Junior, Vellios, Kelly, Kennedy. Subs: Pennington (70 Duffy), Hope (83 Grant)
