Rom Ready To Face Jose
Rom Ready To Face Jose

Roberto Martinez will give James McCarthy a fitness test before naming his side.

Roberto said: "James McCarthy, we need to make sure we assess him again because we don't want to give him too much work too early. We need to see if we can get him fully fit before we put him on the pitch again,"

Tim Howard should start, but  Leighton Baines may need another week before he is fully fit.

Aiden McGeady, Tony Hibbert, Steven Pienaar, Leon Osman and Christian Atsu are all unavailable.

This is the first time Romulu Lukaku has played against his former club and Roberto is hoping for a good return from the 21 year old.

Roberto said: "Big occasions always get big players excited.

"Rom is a big player for us and he is used to big events like the World Cup. Representing your country doesn't get any bigger than that.

"But I think that going back to Stamford Bridge will be a game that he will look forward to - until the start of the game.

"At kick-off then it becomes a normal game and you focus on what you need to do for the team and how you can help the team.

"Chelsea have been the most consistent team throughout. They are full of quality and the new players made a massive impact at the start of the season. From that point on, they carried on with a lot of know-how and a clear understanding of how to win games.

"That's the biggest strength of Chelsea. They can play really well and blow any side away but in the same manner they know how to win games when they are not at their best. That is a sign of a fantastic team.

"So far in the season, and the table reflects it, they have been the best and strongest side. They haven't lost at home which is an incredible record.

"We are well aware of what we are facing but we are in a moment where we feel we can go anywhere and be ourselves and test ourselves to the limit."

Everton Squad: Robles, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Oviedo, Besic, McCarthy, Barry, Lukaku, Naismith, Mirallas, Lennon, Howard, Griffiths, Browning, Alcaraz, Barkley, Gibson, Kone Baines.

Jogger's Starting XI: Howard, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Oviedo, Besic, Barry, Naismith, Mirallas, Barkley, Lukaku.

Robles has not conceded for three games. Why change him?

So Kin Cruel last season and this - really unlucky. At least Barry won't play in the next game. No justice I'm afraid

In goal-The 82 to Speke. Back Four-14 to Croxteth. Midfield of-10 to Prescot. Striker-18 to Croxteth Park. Substitute's Bench-17 to Fazackerley. Similar to Jose's set up verses City recently.Sure he'll identify with that,oh and a sneaky late winner from Rom will do nicely.
