John Stones Is Back
John Stones Is Back

Everton will be without 6 first team players due to injury.

James McCarthy is definitely out together with Tim Howard, Steven Pienaar, Leon Osman, Tony Hibbert and Darron Gibson.

Also missing are Alcaraz through suspension and Atsu who is now recovered from injury but away with the Ghana squad ahead of the African Cup of Nations.

Good news is John Stones and Kevin Mirallas are fit and should start.

Roberto said: "James is recovering well but I don't think he will be involved in the game against West Ham on Tuesday. His hamstring is not yet ready to cope with 90 minutes of football.

"John and Kevin Mirallas have provided really positive news for us and they will both be in the squad.

"There are the longer-term injuries. Tim Howard, Steven Pienaar, Leon Osman, Tony Hibbert and Darron Gibson who will not be available.

"I think the FA Cup comes at a good time for us. We are playing at home against a very good West Ham side. They will come with a really good, open approach and I think it'll be a fantastic game of football.

"Playing in a different competition can sometimes lift the pressure and, from our point of view, it can be the start of something that can give us a really good platform for the second half of the season.

"We all know the FA Cup is the best cup competition in world football in terms of a domestic tournament, so we're really looking forward to it.

"We'll be ready for the game. I do feel as though it is a game where we have to perform well and one we have to win.

"Having a couple of days extra will help us. I think it is important we use the time to make sure we get back to our standards.

"We want to react, as a football club, in the manner that we do at Everton. We will accept the criticism and comments that come from outside because they'll make us stronger and ready for the rest of the campaign."

Everton squad: Robles, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Baines, Garbutt, Barry, Mirallas, Besic, Barkley, Naismith, Kone, Oviedo, McGeady, Atsu, Eto'o, Lukaku, Browning, Distin, Griffiths.

Jogger's Starting XI:  Robles, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Baines, Besic, Barry, Mirallas, Naismith, Barkley, Lukaku.

What would your starting XI be? Comment Below.

We deserved something from that game and let's hope from a spark a mighty fire will roar !! Still not sure on what Martinez trying to do as we are just so narrow and need to get width without playing Naismith and Barkley out there who don't look at all comfortable. That's it for Distin for me , he started tracking Collins then just stopped ?? However all said and done nice to get something last gasp for a change and not look dead on our feet with 15 mins left, Martinez needs to get Taschin the fitness coach back asap

To quote Mike Bassett, England Manager; We'll play 4,4 fucking 2. Pleeeease no fucking about with wrong players in specialist positions. The goalie is an accident waiting to happen so he needs a blanket in front of him. We'll win this boys and girls - or the crowd will - if we get the Old Lady rocking again. Otherwise Les is spot on and we can look at a very difficult 6 weeks ahead. Lets just go for it

Whoever plays needs to be playing in their correct position. Playing Baines in midfield is joke, he looks ok there because he's a top player, but he's the best LEFT BACK in the country FFS. We need wide players to play wide to balance the team up and play Barkley in the no 10 behind one of the forwards or not at all. Back to basics and our better players should win the game. COYB

A watershed game for Martinez. If he ballses it up again by playing players out of position, and selecting an unbalanced side then I cant see anything different happening, except the waving of the white hankies at the end of the match.

Agree with jogger except for Barry. I'd stick my mum in there before him, she turns quicker.

Forget about the f a cup we are not going to win it...as I said in a previous post, I believe this side is well worth an experiment Robles, Coleman, Browning/Stones, Jagielka, Garbutt, Mirralas, Baines, Besic, Oviedo, Eto and Naismith....brief reasoning Barkley is too much of a liability in the situation we are in , Naismith as an out and out striker will at least offer 100 per cent, win the ball in the air and have shots on goal, Eto I believe would add the balance in a more forward role and Oviedo showed me enough in the second half at Hull to suggest he is worthy of a left sided midfield role..Baines looks comfortable in midfield and Mirralas operating down the right could be more effective than on the other flank it looks a balanced 4-4-2 to me .....what have we got to lose?

I have just viewed Roberto's official team news and I'm afraid it was much of the same. I appreciate it is a difficult one but currently he simply does not fill me full of confidence. This is going to be one tough fixture and if we manage a scrappy finger nail biting 1 - O win I would take that like a shot? I honestly believe this is a pivotal point in our season. Lose this and even draw this game and our season will fizzle out like a dreadful damp squib. Not the most confident of Blue Boys I am at present - but I hope I'm wrong? Just would love Rom to have a ball !

Or give Eto'o a go, drop Lukaku, give him time to think things over. And stop moaning.

Agree with Jogger's eleven, other than Oviedo on the left with either Barkley or Naismith playing number 10. We need to get behind Robles, as he is obviously a player who lacks confidence. He is clearly not up to premiership standard, but we've no one else, and it's not his fault Martinez bought him.
