Stephane M'bia
Everton
have had a second bid thought to be about £8m rejected by
Rennes, even though the player has repeatedly said he wants to join
Everton.
Rennes
General manager Pierre Dreossi says: "We have received
a good offer from Everton but we are not selling. We are going to
seek a financial accord with Stephane so he can stay another year."

Ste
is on collision course with Rennes when he returns from the Olympics
this weekend, as the player wants to leave for Everton and Rennes
want to keep him.
Rennes
general manager Pierre Dreossi says: "Our
position has not changed. We remain determined to retain Stephane
M'Bia and I repeat this decision is firm and final."

In
today's daily 'I want to play for Everton' press release, M'bia
thinks a move to Everton will net him a big wedge to feed his family
and half of Cameroon by the looks of things.
Ste
says: “I have just been told that Arsenal are as well interested,
but my position is clear: I want to start the season with Everton.
What Rennes are currently offering me is far behind my demands.
Both clubs have to find an agreement to help me leave.
I’m
aware that my directors have declared I won’t leave, but it’s just
a means to make my price higher. I understand their position and
I would do the same. It’s politics. Regarding what I’ve heard, I
know [general manager Pierre] Dreossi is ready to let me leave.
From my part, I don’t want to play for Rennes anymore.
Personally
I don’t worry because English clubs have the resources to sign me.
When they really want a player they are ready to spent whatever
amount. I’m hopeful it will be done by next week. That kind of opportunity
only happens once. Everton offer me €1.5m (£1.2m) whereas
I don’t earn the half of it at Rennes. Even if I owe everything
to this club Rennes, I have a family to feed, regardless the challenge,
which is very interesting. It’s an ideal springboard for my career.”

Ste
who is now out of the Olympics with Cameroon is still stating he
wants to join the Blues. Great stuff give him a gold for persistence,
and if he does join a heroes welcome at Goodison. Normally its players
holding us to ransom, Ste has said all Summer he just wants to play
for the Blues, and that will do for me.
Ste
says: "I haven't changed my mind, I want to join Everton.
We are still in contact. I hope now that Rennes will accept to enter
into negotiations with this English club. I don't want to let this
chance go by." (19/08/08)
Speaking
from the Olympic village in Beijing, Ste has again said he wants
to join Everton.
Ste
says: "The
offer from Everton is too good to refuse. But I cannot leave on
bad terms, despite the lure of the Premier League - I am caught
in the middle. It is not easy when everyone has been so kind to
you." (12/08/08)
The
Cameroon international scored his countries winner in a 1-0 win
against Honduras in the Olympics and has continued his plea to get
a transfer to Everton.
Ste
says: "I
want to leave Rennes. Everton are a very established club in the
Premier League, managed by David Moyes, a coach who puts trust in
youngsters." (10/08/08)
What
a difference a day makes. Speaking from the Cameroon squad in Beijing
for the Olympics, Ste has had an about turn, probably after talking
to his mates who are play in the Premiership.
Ste
says: "I
love Pierre Dréossi (Rennes Boss), but at the end of last
season, he promised that he would accept any beautiful offers to
me let go. This offer is available. It just Everton who wants to
buy me for more than eight million euros. Let Rennes understand
me. I want the management of the two clubs to reach an agreement.
I have confidence. I saw that Rennes had recruited a player who
has the same profile as me. " (08/08/08)
M'bia
has said he's going to stay at Rennes for another season.
Ste
says: "Listen, all the world knows that Everton and
Sevilla are after me. But I have a contract with Rennes and I do
understand that Rennes want to keep me. My contract with the club
expires in June 2010, however, I am staying this year because I
have a good relationship with Rennes. Next year maybe I will want
to further my career, but I need to respect Rennes. They gave me
the platform to be who I am." (07/08/08)
Reports
in France have that Everton have lodged £5m bid M'bia. Would
be a boost for everyone if that came off. We will wait and see.
(01/08/08)
Reports
that Everton are stepping up their bid to sign Ste. The fee Rennes
want is said to be around £4m. (17/07/08)
After
hearing on the grapevine that Everton maybe interested in him, Ste
seems keen.
Ste
says:
“I did not say I will depart from Rennes. I think that one more
year at Rennes can be a good solution. But if I have an opportunity
to move to a big club, I will leave. There are moments when an opportunity
is presented to you, you have to jump on it.” (15/05/08)
Rennes
midfielder Ste (to his mates) is after a move. By the sound of it,
the Cameroon International doesn't care who he goes to as long as
its a move.
Ste
says: "There are contacts with Manchester United,
Manchester City, and in Spain there is Barcelona as well. For the
moment I'm not thinking of it and I will stay with Rennes. I'll
rely on people like general manager Pierre Dreossi, who knows me
and my parents very well." (24/04/08)
