After a couple of seasons visiting the pubs and clubs around Goodison Park from 2000 to 2004, we decided to try and find a place were we could go to on a regular basis.
The "Blue Kipper Lounge" opened before the 'boro game on Saturday 27th March 2004 upstairs above 'The Grand National pub' on the corner of Barlows Lane & Westminster Road. We had Ex-Everton stars Gary Jones, Mick Buckley, Brian Harris & John Bailey on the opening day.
It was a great meeting place. We certainly met plenty of Everton fans from Liverpool and surrounding areas, but from further afield. Regular visitors from Carlisle, Barrow, Northern Ireland, and Southern Ireland visited The Blue Kipper Lounge.
Even when we moved to upstairs at Crofts and then back to The Westminster until 2009, we met even more fans from USA, South Africa and Australia. The thought of seeing Alex Young, Joe Royle, Pat Nevin, Joe Parkinson, Mick Lyons or even Joe Harper and more top players speaking on the "Blue Pallets" was enough to keep them coming back.
Brian Labone opened up our new Blue Kipper Lounge in Crofts, when he left his hospitality role at Goodison for 10 minutes and ended up here for an hour. What an honour that was.
One of the many highlights was our Christmas Party 2008 when we had Joe Parkinson, Matt Jackson and Paul Lodge entertaining us along with top Merseyside Impressionist Mark Langley. Blue Santa turned up to spread some festive cheer, handing out special awards along with gifts for all for our Lounge Members. Free Raffles and Bingo as the ale flowed and flowed and flowed, you get the picture.
But we even topped that in 2009 We had Derek Mountfield as our guest, but what made it so special was that we had just beaten the redshite 1-0. To say the Blue Kipper Lounge was rocking was an understatement.
Thanks to all the members of the Blue Kipper Lounge who stuck with us over the years. We loved every minute of it. Up The Toffees.
