An' if, yer know, yer 'istory..............

The second Captain of Everton Football Cub was Andrew Hannah who lifted Everton's first trophy.

Andrew Hannah was replaced as Captain by Johnny Holt.

Johnny was Everton's first England international. The centre-half was signed from arch rivals Bootle for the start of the inaugural league campaign, he was widely respected.... and feared!

Nicknamed the 'Little Everton Devil' he stood just 5' 4" and weighed 10 stone 2 lbs but he was a fiercely competitive character. It is stated that 'he was an artist in the perpetration of clever minor fouls' by Everton' Jubilee historian, Thomas Keates. 'When they appealed, his shocked look of innocence was side splitting!'

Johnny Holt spent 10 years at Everton making 252 appearances and scoring 4 goals, winning a Championship medal in the 1890-91 season for The Toffees. He represented England on 10 occasions winning his first cap aged 24 and his last aged 34.

John Holt, born Church, Lancashire 10.04.1865
