An' if, yer know, yer 'istory..............

The first Captain of Everton Football Club was Nick Ross.

In 1889, Andrew Hannah became the second. Andrew made a name for himself north of the border as an all-round Scottish athlete, in particular he excelled at running and the hop, skip and jump at the Highland Games.

Signed by Everton in 1889, Hannah was immediately appointed Club Captain and struck up a fearsome defensive partnership with Dan Doyle.

A tough tackling full-back, Andrew was Everton's first League Championship winning Captain, he also won the Scottish Cup with Renton.

After transferring back up to Scotland, he was encouraged to return to Merseyside after Everton left Analfield. Andrew went on to Captain the redshite as well, so holding the distinction of being the first player to Captain both Merseyside Clubs.

Andrew Hannah played 44 times for Everton and represented Scotland on two occasions.

Andrew Boyd Hannah, born Renton, Dumbarton 17.09.1864 - 17.06.1940

Andrew went on to Captain the redshite as well. Still holding the distinction of being the first to Captain both Merseyside Clubs. Um... You are not waiting for that record to be broken, are you? Because that would be something... :)

Wont he always hold the distinction of being the first to Captain both Merseyside Clubs?
