Sharpy And EITC Help Toffeeman

Everton legend Graeme Sharp and a team of Everton in the Community staff visited Runcorn this week to assist lifelong Toffeeman David McTegart with his gardening.

The 82-year-old had been nominated by his granddaughter Claire for the special treat as part of Everton partner StubHub's competition to find an Evertonian deserving of a helping hand from the Blues legend.

The applications flooded in but David, a supporter of the Toffees since the age of three and still a current Goodison Park Season Ticket holder, apparently stood out as a worthy winner.

After arriving at David's house, Sharpy cut the lawn while the Everton in the Community staff got to grips with the spades, shovels and rakes in the front garden.

Once the work was complete, it was time for a cup of tea as David and Sharpy reminisced about the good old days at Goodison.

Sharpy said: "Talking to David, it's clear that he has supported Everton all his life."

"He's a great guy and has been through a tough time with a hip problem but his enthusiasm is fantastic. He is Everton mad, we were drinking out of Everton cups and he was offering us all Everton mints!"

"When he walked through the gate, I couldn't believe he was nearly 83 because he had such a spring in his step. As for cutting the lawn, I'm used to doing that. By the time we left it was looking like Wembley!"

Toffeeman David said: "I wasn't expecting it at all. It's been a great experience, another one in my life."

Well played Sharpy! Bush trimming next?
